The website describes how transgenic plants are made and includes animated demonstrations of the process. It also includes an explanation of how genetically modified crops are evaluated and regulated, describes crops that are currently available or planned for the future, a discussion of risks and concerns associated with these crops and links to both pro and con websites. Georgetown University Center for Food and Nutrition Policy (CFNP). Their mission encompasses teaching, research and outreach. The website is organized into these major sections. CFNP is an independent, nonprofit center affiliated with Virginia Tech. Michigan State University - National Agricultural Biotechnology Center The organization, a not-for-profit consortium of 37 leading agricultural research and teaching governmental agencies/institutions/universities in the U.S and Canada, continues to provide all stakeholders the opportunity to speak, to listen, and to learn about the issues surrounding agricultural biotechnology. Cornell Michigan State University- Institute of International Agriculture The Institute of International Agriculture (IIA) in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) at Michigan State University (MSU) serves to help promote, facilitate, expedite, and coordinate international development programs of the College. IIA is home to many of MSU's externally funded international development project activities, engaging faculty and students across many colleges and departments across campus. Harvard University- Centre for International Development (CID) The Center for International Development serves as Harvard’s primary center for research on sustainable international development. CID is a central pillar of Harvard University’s deepening commitment to the problems of international development. Partnerships in Education (SCOPE) Project An on-line educational forum focused on the issues associated with genetically modified foods. SCOPE is a research collaboration between the College of Education at the University of Washington, the Graduate School of Education at the University of California-Berkeley, and the journal SCIENCE with funding provided by the National Science Foundation (NSF). Registration and access to the forum is free and curriculum projects and activities can be used free of charge in all classroom settings. University of Maryland – Biotechnology Institute Center for Biosystems Research, CBR’s economic development activities emphasize collaborative research, licensing, and provision of technical expertise to Maryland and U.S companies in agricultural biotechnology. |
